What does Risktvåan MC cover?
During Risktvåan MC, you get to ride a motorcycle and handle risky situations under controlled conditions. It is not a test, but you must be able to maneuver a motorcycle to complete the training. Therefore, it is recommended that you do it towards the end of your driver's license training.
The training includes:
- Cornering technique – you get to practice riding in curves and understand how speed and lane selection affect stability.
- Effective braking methods – you learn to brake safely and effectively at different speeds and road conditions.
- Handling the motorcycle in critical situations – you get to experience how different surfaces and speeds affect the motorcycle's stability and grip.
- Risk awareness in practice – the training helps you understand how you can avoid dangerous situations in real traffic.
The training is conducted on a closed track under the guidance of a certified trainer and must be at least 4 hours long.
How do speed and road surface affect braking distance?
During Risktvåan MC you will experience in practice how factors such as speed, road surface and braking technique affect your braking distance. Higher speed leads to a quadratic increase in braking distance, which means that if you double your speed, the braking distance quadruples. It is crucial to understand this in order to be able to adapt your driving and avoid accidents.
The difference between Riskettan MC and Risktvåan MC
Both risk training courses are mandatory and must be approved before you can write the theory test or do the driving test.
- Riskettan MC: A theoretical training on risk behaviors, alcohol, drugs and fatigue in traffic.
- Risktvåan MC: A practical training where you get to drive a motorcycle and practice handling risky situations.
Please note that risk training for cars does not apply to motorcycles. If you have already completed a risk training for a passenger car, you must still complete both Riskettan MC and Risktvåan MC in order to get a motorcycle license.
How long is Risktvåan MC valid?
The risk training is valid until the day you get your license or for a maximum of five years.
If you take A1 first and then upgrade to A2 or A, you do not need to repeat Riskettan MC or Risktvåan MC – as long as they are still valid.
Important things to consider before your Risktvåan MC
Before booking your Risktvåan MC, make sure that:
- You have sufficient driving experience to complete the training.
- Many trainers provide protective equipment, but some require you to have your own helmet, motorcycle clothing, gloves and protection. Check with your trainer what applies before the training.
- You book the training well in advance, as places quickly fill up – especially during high season.
