The hard shoulder is the part of the road that lies at the side of the roadway. The hard shoulder can be grass-clad, gravel-covered or paved. In Sweden, the hard shoulder is regularly paved with asphalt. It will primarily be used by cyclists, pedestrians, moped riders and LGF vehicles.
