Glossary
Time gain is the time (in seconds) that you save when you increase speed. Often, the time gains are less than you might think, especially with the increased risks of higher speeds in mind.
The table below shows what time gains look like at different speeds:
Speed increase | Time gain |
---|---|
From 70 km/h to 80 km/h | 64 seconds per mile |
From 80 km/h to 90 km/h | 50 seconds per mile |
From 90 km/h to 100 km/h | 40 seconds per mile |
At the same time, however, the estimated braking distance is increased as follows:
