Unattended pedestrian crossings are not equipped with lights or audible signals or a police officer present at guarded pedestrian crossings. You have an obligation to give way to pedestrians who are on the road or who are just about to go out onto the road. To avoid misunderstandings and accidents at these unattended pedestrian crossings, you can try to make eye contact with the pedestrian. However, you should not wave a pedestrian forward. This is because the pedestrian can then instead forget to check for traffic in another lane.
