What are winter tyres?
Winter tyres are tyres on the car that provide better grip in winter conditions and are available in two types: Studded winter tyres and non-studded winter tyres, also called friction tyres.
- Winter tyres are marked with the symbol snowflake or alpine peak (tip of iceberg).
- The minimum permitted tread depth on winter tires is 3.0 millimeters.
- The law requires that you use winter tires between December 1 - March 31 if winter road conditions prevail.
- It is forbidden to have studded winter tires between April 16 - September 30 unless there are or are expected winter road conditions.
