What is a reversing light?

The car's reversing lights come on automatically when the driver engages the "reverse" mode. A white light comes on at the rear of the car, which signals that the driver intends to reverse, and makes it easier for the driver by providing extra light when reversing in the dark. On cars that are put into traffic after January 1, 2015, working reversing lights are a legal requirement.
