Base speed

The base speed is the speed that the driver must follow if there are no speed signs. • Inside built-up areas: 50 km/h • Outside built-up areas: 70 km/hThese are to be considered as general speed limits in situations where there is a lack of speed signs.

In built-up areas, there are usually signs showing that the speed limit is 30 km/h or 40 km/h, however, if there are no signs, the general base speed of 50 km/h applies.
