Cargo securing

Cargo securing or securing of cargo is a summary term for the various measures that are implemented to ensure that cargo does not shift, slip or tip over during transport. It is important to secure the load to prevent damage to the cargo, passengers or other road users, and because the load can otherwise affect the car's driving characteristics.

General tips for loading:

  • Place the centre of gravity of the load as low as possible, and as close to the centre of the car as possible
  • Mark the protruding load with a flag or pennant in daylight, or lights and reflectors in the dark Keep
  • in mind that a standard B driving licence has a maximum weight of 3,500 kg
  • Keep the technical limitations of the car in mind if you are driving a heavy load

When loading into a passenger car, you should secure the load in the following ways:

  • Stow the load against the backrest and sides to prevent movement
  • If the load is at risk of tipping, you should lay it down if possible
  • Avoid carrying heavy loads above the backrest even if there is a safety net
  • Use
  • load loops if there are in the car
  • Do not place loose objects on the hat rack in the car. In the event of a collision or heavy braking, they can turn into projectiles

When loading a roof rack, you should secure the load in the following way:

  • Tie everything down securely, use straps if possible
  • Keep the weight in mind and do not exceed the maximum weight of your car
  • Make sure that the load can withstand movement in all directions and that it does not shift or move

When loading into a roof box, you should secure the load in the following way:

  • If you load too heavily on the roof, the car can become wobbly, therefore avoid too much weight
  • Secure the load in the box or pack tightly so that the load cannot shift or move Think
  • about the weight and do not exceed the maximum weight of your car

When loading into a trailer, you should secure the load in the following way:

  • Make sure that the load can handle movement in all directions and that it does not shift or move
  • Lashing and fastening everything properly, use straps with tensioners if possible
  • Think about the weight and do not exceed the maximum weight of how heavy a trailer you can tow with your car
  • Keep the trailer's ball pressure in mind to avoid the car or trailer lifting
