All cars manufactured after 1989 in Sweden must have a catalytic converter. What it does is work at about 400–600 degrees to convert harmful substances in diesel and gasoline into water and carbon dioxide. Around 90% of the harmful substances disappear thanks to the action of the catalytic converter.
