Driver's seat

What does driver's seat mean? We explain what the driver's seat is and what rules apply to its placement in vehicles.

Driver's seat is the place in the vehicle where the driver is seated. In cars made for right-hand traffic, such as Swedish cars, the driver's seat is almost always on the left side. Exceptions are, for example, mail trucks that have the driver's seat on the right-hand side even in right-hand traffic. In countries that have left-hand traffic, such as England or Australia, the driver's seat is instead located on the right-hand side.
