What is a moose? Learn about what the definition of a moose is, how big they can become, and what risks they pose to road users.

Moose are a larger ungulate that is common here in Sweden. They have a height at the withers of 175-190 cm and are easy to recognize thanks to their large size and the distinctive horns of the males. Every year, several traffic accidents occur where moose are involved. Due to their size, they pose a great danger to road users in collisions. If you see a moose on the road, it is therefore recommended to first try to slow down the car, but if this is not possible or if it would pose a traffic hazard, you should then steer towards the animal's rear or try to swerve completely.
