Lateral Distance
When we talk about lateral distance, we mean the distance from the side of the car to another object, such as another vehicle or a cyclist.
It is especially important to consider lateral distance in the following situations:
* When overtaking another vehicle
* When overtaking a cyclist
* When you park your car
The concept of "safe lateral distance" means that you must keep a sufficiently large distance from, for example, the vehicle you are overtaking, so that there is no risk of contact.
If you do not keep a safe distance laterally, it can be assessed as causing danger when overtaking or showing negligence in traffic, which can lead to a fine.
