The right-hand rule

The right-hand rule is a basic and important traffic rule, and

understanding and using the right-hand rule correctly is important to avoid collisions at intersections where that rule applies. When there are no road signs, lights or markings that show who has the right of way, let those from the right drive first.

In a typical scenario, the right-hand rule might look like this: if you and another driver are approaching the same intersection from different directions and no specific road sign shows who has the right of way, you should give way to the vehicle coming from your right. In other words, the vehicle coming from the left has to wait until it is safe to drive.

It is important to note that the right-hand rule applies not only to motorists but also to cyclists, motorcyclists, moped riders and other vehicles.
