What does trailer weight mean? We explain what is meant by trailer weight and explain the different ratings needed for different weight classes.
Trailer weight is the actual weight of the trailer including the load, i.e. the weight that would be displayed if the trailer with load were placed on a large scale. A light trailer has a total weight of no more than 750 kg, as long as the trailer and the car have a combined weight of less than 3,500 kg, heavier trailers may also be driven with a B licence. With an extended B licence, you can drive vehicle combinations with a car and trailer that extend up to 4,250 in combined weight.
