How does alcohol affect vision?

According to the Traffic Offences Act, you may never drive a motor vehicle when you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Alcohol impairs the peripheral vision of the human being, making it more difficult to detect various objects on the road.

  • Keep in mind that alcohol also impairs night vision and that the sensitivity to glare increases.
  • Alcohol can also remain in your body to the point that it negatively affects your driving even the day after consumption.
