Facts
What is the difference between the mandatory direction of travel and the mandatory carriageway?
The required direction of travel is which direction you are allowed to turn, you may only drive in the direction of the arrow. In cases where there is more than one arrow, you may only drive in the directions that each arrow points towards.
Mandatory lane is which side of the road you should be on, the arrow points diagonally downwards.
- If the arrow points downwards to the right, you should pass the sign on the right side.
- If the arrow points downwards to the left, you should pass the sign on the left side.
- If there are two arrows, with one pointing in each direction, you can pass on both the left or right side of the sign.
