Class l mopeds, also known as EU mopeds, are vehicles on two, three or four wheels. These mopeds have a maximum speed of 45km/h and are faster than class II mopeds. An AM driving licence is required to drive a class l moped and that the driver is at least 15 years old. Other requirements are that the moped must have a registration plate, i.e. be registered, and have motor insurance. You are not allowed to drive a class l moped on a cycle path.
