When does the exit rule apply?

The exit rule affects the right of way when exiting from parking, properties, paths, pedestrian streets and cycle paths. Learn all of Sweden's traffic rules.

In short, the exit rule means that priority must be given to all traffic when driving out of these areas:

  • Parking space.
  • Property (e.g. house or plot).
  • Paths, property roads and similar roads.
  • Pedestrian street, pedestrian area, hard shoulder or terrain.
  • Pedestrian path or cycle path that has been crossed.
