Built-up area

What is a built-up area? Here you will find information about what a built-up area means, as well as the rules that apply to driving there.

In a densely populated area, there are a few things to consider. Here, traffic is denser, there are more pedestrians and more cyclists, and consideration must be given to those who live near a road. For these reasons, the base speed is lower in densely populated areas compared to areas outside the built-up area. Here the base speed is 50 km/h while outside it is 70 km/h. In some places, such as schools or on smaller streets, the speed limit is lower, in which case 30 km/h usually applies.
