Heavy bus

What is a heavy bus? We explain what defines a heavy bus and what rules apply to both driver and passenger.

A heavy bus is a bus that has a total weight of more than 3.5 tonnes. If the bus has a total weight of less than that, it is classified as a light bus. Passengers in a heavy bus who are older than 3 years must wear a seat belt when travelling on board. For this eligibility, you must be at least 24 years old, unless you are taking it in conjunction with a transportation program in high school.
