Load

What is cargo? We offer the definition of cargo and also discuss what is classified as cargo and what is important to consider with protruding loads.

Cargo is by definition any object in a vehicle that is not used for its propulsion. For cars, passengers are also counted as cargo, which is important to keep in mind if you are approaching the maximum load. For passenger cars, the load may protrude no more than 20 cm from the vehicle on each side, and may be a maximum of 24 meters long. Depending on how far the load protrudes, there are different requirements for how it should be marked both in daylight and in the dark.
