What is load length? We explain what applies to both the length and width of any load that protrudes from the car and how they should be marked.
Load length is the length of cargo that protrudes from a passenger car. On the width (sideways), the load may protrude a maximum of 20 cm on each side of the car, the total width may be a maximum of 260 cm. If the car is wider than 260 cm, no load may protrude at all in width. In length, a normal car including load may be a maximum of 24 meters, with the following conditions:If the part that protrudes in front of the car is shorter than 1 meter and is clearly visible to other road users, it does not need to be marked, otherwise it must always be marked. If the part that protrudes behind the car is longer than 1 meter, it always needs to be marked. In daylight, mark cargo with flags or similar with clear colors. In the dark or in poor visibility, mark the load at the front with a lantern with white light and white reflectors, while the load at the back is marked with a lantern with a red light and red reflectors.
