Rear-wheel drive

Rear-wheel drive is when a vehicle, such as a car, is driven with only the rear wheels. The engine can either be mounted at the front, in the middle or at the rear of rear-wheel drive vehicles. On a rear-wheel drive car with the engine in the front, the driving torque from the engine goes through the gearbox and via the propeller shaft to the rear axle.

Keep in mind that in slippery road conditions, there is a greater risk that the car will end up in a skid when accelerating with a rear-wheel drive car
