Traffic noise or road noise is the aggregate sound energy emitted by motor vehicles. It mainly consists of the road surface, tires, engine/transmission, aerodynamic and brake elements. Noise from rolling tires driving on pavement turns out to be the biggest cause of highway noise, increasing with higher vehicle speeds.
To reduce traffic noise, there are several requirements for sound levels for road vehicles, tires and ambient noise.
