A vehicle inspector has the right to carry out a roadworthiness test of a vehicle. If a police officer or car inspector suspects that your car is not safe enough in traffic or if they suspect a crime, they have the right to carry out a so-called flying inspection. This can happen at any time when you are out driving.
If deficiencies are discovered, this can result in a driving ban or a requirement that the vehicle must be checked at a car inspection.
