What are jumper cables?
When the car battery is discharged, you can kick-start the engine with jumper cables. You do this by connecting one end to your battery, and the other to another car's battery.
To do this, jumper cables:
- Attach the positive end of the cable to the positive terminal of both cars. Start with the car that has charged the battery.
- Connect the negative end to the negative terminal of the working car and the body of the car that needs assistance.
- Start the car with a charged battery. Leave it running for a few minutes to charge the second battery.
- Now start up the car that needed the help.
- When removing the cables, start by detaching the negative terminal from the body of the auxiliary vehicle. Then remove the cable on the other car's negative terminal.
