A driving licence is a document that shows that you are authorised to drive a motor vehicle, off-road motor vehicle, tractor and/or motorised equipment. The vehicle class that you are authorised to drive is also listed on your driving licence.
By law, you are not allowed to drive a car without having a driver's license with you. Driving without a driver's license is punishable by a fine of SEK 500. Although you are not allowed to drive without a driver's license, you can often avoid fines by carrying other valid ID documents.
