Driving licence requirements

Different driving licences have different driving licence requirements, i.e., criteria you must meet in order to get the driving licence.

The driving licence requirements for a B driving licence are as follows:

  • That you are 18 years old
  • That you have a valid driving licence permit
  • That you have passed the risk training (risk first and risk two)
  • That you have passed the theory test and driving test

Without a driving licence, you are not allowed to drive vehicles where a driving licence is a requirement, such as passenger cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles. Driving a car without a license is a criminal offense and is called unlicensed driving.

If someone deliberately drives a car without a license, the penalty is a fine. If the person has previously had a driver's license that has since been revoked, or if it happens habitually, the person can be sentenced to imprisonment for a maximum of 6 months.
