Glossary
The electrical system is an important part of vehicle functionality and powers a variety of electrical components in the car. It is responsible for generating, storing, and distributing electrical energy to various systems, including lighting, dashboard, starter, generator, and more.
One of the most important components of the electrical system is the generator. The alternator converts kinetic energy from the engine into electrical energy and at the same time charges the battery. This ensures that the vehicle's electrical system is working properly and that the battery is kept charged.
The starter motor is another key component of the electrical system. It is used to start the engine by delivering enough power to turn the engine's flywheel. The starter motor is active at the moment of starting and helps to get the engine spinning to start vehicle operation.
Since the electrical system is used to start the car, and the battery is charged during operation, there can be difficult situations where batteries are discharged when the car is turned off. In these cases, you need jump-starting assistance from another car with jumper cables.
