An environmental class is a way of classifying cars according to how much they emit in exhaust gases of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter. There are different types of environmental classes, which are based on different EU regulations on exhaust emissions.
