Exhaust system
An exhaust system transports exhaust gases and other combustion products from the engine out of the vehicle. The exhaust system consists of, among other things, a muffler and a catalytic converter. The muffler reduces noise levels, while the catalytic converter cleans the exhaust gases of harmful pollutants.
The part of the exhaust system that is visible at the rear of the vehicle, the exhaust pipe, is just one of several components in the exhaust system.
