Front-wheel drive

Front-wheel drive is a technology for propulsion, primarily of passenger cars, where the front wheels are the driving force. The engine on front-wheel drive vehicles is located either at the front or between the wheel axles just behind the front axle, transverse or longitudinally mounted.

Front-wheel drive cars are more understeered than rear-wheel drive. Understeer is preferable, rather than oversteer, as it can be very difficult to get control of an oversteered car that has been rear-skidded.
