Hydrocarbons

What are hydrocarbons? We explain what hydrocarbons are, what effects they have on people and which work groups are particularly vulnerable.

Hydrocarbons are chemical compounds consisting only of carbon and hydrogen. They have a number of negative health effects for humans and contain, among other things, carcinogenic substances and can be harmful to our respiratory tract. Hydrocarbons are found in the car's exhaust, which is one of the reasons why you should avoid exhaust gases as much as possible. You cannot see hydrocarbons with the naked eye and for ordinary people there is relatively little risk of experiencing major effects of hydrocarbons. But for people who work around exhaust fumes, such as road workers, for example, this is a greater health risk.
