Glossary
A light off-road vehicle is an off-road motor vehicle, which is a motorised vehicle that is mainly used for the transport of people or goods off-road. Off-road motor vehicles are divided into off-road vehicles and off-road scooters. Off-road trailers are then divided into two separate categories, where a light off-road trailer has an unladen weight of no more than 2 tonnes, while a heavy off-road trailer has an unladen weight of more than 2 tonnes.
To drive a light off-road vehicle, a regular B licence is required.
Light off-road trailer may not be driven on public roads, but only on private roads, but there are exceptions. Anyone who, when travelling with such an off-road motor vehicle, needs to cross a road that is not private may do so via the shortest suitable distance. The same applies if it is necessary to travel on the road due to the terrain conditions. When driving on the road, the vehicle may be driven at a maximum speed of 20 km/h.
A driver of an off-road motor vehicle driving off the terrain must stop the vehicle before entering a road. The driver must give way to road users on the road.
