Meeting point

What is a meeting point? We'll explain what the meeting point means and why it can be vital to accurately estimate it.

The meeting point is the point where two oncoming cars meet. It is important to be able to correctly estimate the meeting point when overtaking, among other things. If you discover that you have misjudged the meeting point shortly after you have started an overtaking, you should interrupt it as soon as possible, in a safe manner. Misjudging the meeting point is easy to happen, especially at higher speeds, it is difficult to know if the oncoming car is at the right speed for the road or if they are driving faster or slower, which in turn affects the actual meeting point.
