Patchy slippery conditions

According to SMHI, patchy slippery conditions are often due to meltwater freezing in patches at night. Remnants of old ice and packed snow can also cause patchy slippery. Snow itself – even small amounts – can of course also cause slippery surfaces.

This type of slippery road conditions is particularly treacherous as you can suddenly find yourself on slippery road conditions after driving on dry roads for a long time. If you suspect that there may be patches of slippery, it is therefore important to adapt your driving accordingly.

Patches of slippery conditions usually occur in shady areas, depressions in the road, on bridges or in viaducts.
