People who walk are pedestrians, but people who skate and kick sleds are also counted as pedestrians. If there is no pedestrian path or hard shoulder, pedestrians must use a cycle path or carriageway. Pedestrians using the hard shoulder, the carriageway or a shared pedestrian and cycle path must walk furthest to the left in the direction of travel, if possible.
