Railway crossing

A railway crossing is a place where an ordinary road crosses a railway.

There are two different main types of railway crossings

  • : Level crossings, where road and rail cross each other in the same plane.
  • Level crossings, where road and railway cross each other in separate levels.

You are always obliged to leave a clear path for trains. This is true even if the signals are not flashing red. Even if there are signal lights and barriers, you should have good supervision at railway crossings, as trains can come anyway.
