Reaction formation

What does reaction formation mean? We explain what is meant by this term and how it can relate to driving in practice.

In psychology, reaction formation is a form of inhibition and defense mechanism that involves relating to an anxiety-creating stimulus in an opposite and exaggerated way, i.e. the opposite behavior. This can mean, for example, that a person who is very calm and collected in everyday life drives wildly and risk-taking on the roads.
