Reaction ability is what determines how long reaction time you have. The reaction time is how long it takes from the time you see an animal running out into the road, for example, until you start braking. The average reaction time is around 1 second, but some are faster while others are slower. Things like alcohol, fatigue and talking on the phone while driving can lead to poorer responsiveness.
