Shortsighted

A nearsighted person often sees well up close but worse at a distance without glasses or contact lenses. Nearsightedness is hereditary and is usually due to having a slightly too long eye, and then the focus ends up in front of the retina.

If you have problems with nearsightedness, you may need to wear glasses or lenses while driving. Before you can start practicing driving, you need to undergo an eye exam to check your vision, It is also a good idea to regularly undergo new eye exams thereafter, especially as you get older.

People who suffer from visual defects such as myopia later in life rarely notice it on their own as it happens gradually at a slow pace. It is only when it is pointed out by an optician and they are allowed to try glasses that correct the vision defect that they realize that they have struggled with their vision in the past.
