Brake fluid is the medium in a hydraulic brake system that is used to transfer power from, for example, a brake pedal via a brake master cylinder to one or more slave cylinders, which in turn affects a mechanical brake.The medium in the braking system is usually based on either glycol, mineral oil or silicone-based fluid, but glycol is usually also found in all three groups.
