Driving position

A correct driving position means that you sit in such a way that you sit safely and comfortably, while still having good visibility.

To adopt the correct driving position, follow these steps:

  • Adjust the seat so that you are comfortable and away from the steering wheel. If you sit too far away, it can be difficult to steer, but if you sit too close, you can be damaged by the airbag in a collision.
  • Adjust the steering wheel so that you can place your hands in the correct position (quarter to three) Previously, a similar method was used (ten to two) but this involves the risk of injury if the airbag is deployed.
  • Adjust your car's rear-view mirror so that you can see as much of the rear window as possible.
  • Adjust your car's side mirrors so that you can see a small part of your own car when you look in them.
  • Adjust the head restraint so that it is at the level of your head.
  • Make sure the seat belt is not twisted and sits as close to the body as possible. In winter, you should wear the belt under your jacket, for example.
