What is a light motorcycle? We explain what defines a light motorcycle and what rules apply to them in practice.

Motorcycles with a maximum displacement of 125 cc and a power output of no more than 11 kW, or 14.9 hp, are classified as light motorcycles. The age limit for driving a light motorcycle is 16 years, and requires an A1 driving licence. To be able to transport passengers on a light motorcycle or in a sidecar, you must be at least 18 years old.
