Visually impaired

What is the visually impaired? We explain what is meant by visually impaired people and what definitions are in place for them according to the WHO.

Visually impaired people suffer from a visual impairment to a severe degree. According to the WHO, a visually impaired person is someone whose visual acuity in the better eye is worse than 0.3 after correction with, for example, glasses or lenses. A severely visually impaired person has such impaired vision that they have difficulty reading ordinary writing or orienting themselves with the help of their sight.
