Visually impaired people suffer from a visual impairment to a severe degree. According to the WHO, a visually impaired person is someone whose visual acuity in the better eye is worse than 0.3 after correction with, for example, glasses or lenses.

A severely visually impaired person has such impaired vision that they have difficulty reading ordinary writing or orienting themselves with the help of their sight.
