Selfishness is the position that one should do what is in one's self-interest. What is in one's self-interest can just as easily be harmful to others, beneficial to others, or neutral to others.
An egotistical driver, for example, can expose other road users to risks, in exchange for his own gain. They can therefore create directly dangerous situations in traffic in exchange for them getting to their destination a little faster.
