Obligation to stop

The road sign "Obligation to stop", or a stop sign, means that you must always stop at the intersection.

  • If there is a stop line, stop at it, otherwise you must stop immediately before entering the intersecting road. The fact that you should stop right at intersections with a duty to stop is to see and be seen as well as possible.
  • In case of queue, you cannot stop behind the one in front and then hang on, but each driver must make their own stop.

Violating the obligation to stop is very serious and can lead to you having your driver's license revoked. There is a point in the obligation to stop sitting there. The idea is that you should stop completely and then look carefully before continuing. So it's not enough to slow down a bit or just reduce the speed.
