A pressure dressing can save lives in the event of an arterial haemorrhage and works by creating pressure over the wound that stops the blood flow. The goal is for the bleeding to stop. If the dressing has been applied and the bleeding has not stopped , do not remove the dressing to redo it, but continue to apply pressure and wait for an ambulance or take the person to hospital.
