Public road

A public road is a road where the state or a municipality is responsible as the road operator, which means that they are responsible for the maintenance and operation of the road. The current network of public roads in Sweden was established by a law that came into force on 1 January 1944. These roads are accessible to public traffic and play an important role in the Swedish transport system.
