Light truck

Light truck

What is a light truck? We explain what defines a light truck and what permissions and rules apply to them.

Light truck means that the weight of the truck must be less than 3.5 tonnes. The qualification required to drive a light truck is the same as for a passenger car, i.e. a B driving licence. For a light truck, exactly the same speed limits apply as for a passenger car, however, these do not apply to heavy trucks that may only be driven at 90 km/h on expressways and motorways, for example. A truck is classified as a heavy truck if its weight exceeds 3.5 tonnes, and requires a C driving licence.
